Project Manager-Civil Engineer
Job Summary:
- Exxel Engineering is seeking a talented Civil Engineer to join our team full-time working on site development projects in the West Michigan area. This opportunity is suited for a candidate with a strong technical background and a track record of successful project management from planning through design and implementation. This position requires self-motivation, commitment to high quality work, communication skills, and the ability to lead a project team and to interact with clients and review agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the planning, design and implementation of a wide range of commercial and residential development projects.
- Assist with design of projects. Design work will include, but is not limited to, site layouts, stormwater management design and calculations, site grading, and site utility plans.
- Provide direction for project engineers and drafting staff and provide guidance and mentorship to encourage professional development of staff.
- Preparation of projects for submittals/permitting/approvals through applicable agencies. Position requires comprehensive understanding of various agency design standards and approval processes.
- Present projects in various forums, such as Planning Commission and Township Board meetings.
- Coordination with Survey Department, project engineer, drafting/design staff, and other engineering support staff regarding project requirements.
- Responsible for ensuring deadlines are met while providing our clients the highest level of service.
- Foster long term relationships with clients and municipal partners and bring the desires of both together for the successful outcome of projects.
- Develop project proposals and schedules.
Desired Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
Desired Skills/Experience
- 10+ years’ experience in site design/engineering.
- P.E. license is desired or ability to obtain within a year of employment.
- Relevant full-time, internship, co-op, and/or field inspection experience.
- Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D (drafting and editing), Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Working knowledge of HEC-RAS is beneficial.
- Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Organizational skills to maintain accurate project records.
The Project Manager position will include a variety of tasks and responsibilities that will differ based on project demands and workload. This role requires flexibility to perform the full range of tasks and the proficiency for working with others in a professional setting.
